Medical Care for 50¢ a month! In 1900, George McGrath, a young Canadian doctor, purchased The Corner Drug. Since 1893, he had been providing medical care to Marcus Daly's employees for 50 cents each, per month. Townsfolk seemed fond of the country doctor, who made his rounds in a horse drawn carriage.
The August 24, 1900, Ravalli Republican noted:
"'The Corner Drug Store' is the popular name by which people designate this place of business." Newspaper advertisements and
articles early in that century officially described the business as "Bitter Root Drug Co.'s
'Corner Drug.'" It noted that
McGrath's enterprise:
